Dear GAP-forum,

1. I would like to announce that I am practically finished GAP 3.4.4
short (about 30 pages) guide in Russian. It is based on the GAP manual,
an is developed as methodical recommendations for graduate students.
Currently we implemented it in Zaporozhye State University.
Those who are interested in obtaining this guide by e-mail (about 50 kb
in WinZip archive), please, send your requests to konovalov@member.ams.org .
I will send it when I will have its final version (approx. in the middle of
May). (Also it may be placed somewhere on FTP/WWW, but I don't
know where to send it for this purpose).

2. Does anybody works with LAG share package for GAP 4? I have installed
it, and also I have its previous version for GAP 3.4.4, which provide more
functions.
I have several questions, and was referred to GAP-forum by Richard
Rossmanith:

- is the LAG version which was taken in March 1998 from the site
http://www.minet.uni-jena.de/algebra/skripten/ still the latest currently
available LAG version for GAP 3.4.4 ?

- LAG for GAP 3.4.4 contains function "Units" for computing the unit group,
which is missing in new LAG. Does anybody works on the next LAG version
which will contain this and other functions? Is it possible to contribute
this work and what work would be useful ?
I have some experience of usage LAG for GAP 3.4.4 and development new
LAG-based functions, and now I plan to have an experience with GAP4.

Sincerely yours,
Alexander B. Konovalov,
