Workshop on Advanced Programming in GAP

>First Announcement

In collaboration with the Applied Algebra Group in Linz we are
planning to hold a workshop on advanced programming in GAP 4. The
workshop will take place next year the 6th-10th of April (this is the
week immediately following easter) in Linz, Austria.

This workshop is intended for people who have substantial experience
in working and programming in GAP who want to write code that uses
more of the ``innards'' of GAP 4. It is not suitable for people who
have no programming experience in GAP 3 or GAP 4.

A tentative list of topics includes:
* Types, Methods and Operations.
* Interfacing to the GAP library and its objects.
* Creating new kinds of objects.
* Writing a Share Package.
* Debugging.

To permit interaction with the audience we are aiming at about 20
participants.

As a help for planning (and to design the program around the wishes of
the audience) we would like you to tell us if you are interested in
participating (and also if you have specific wishes on topics to be
covered in this workshop).

While we will need a definitive answer only by the 15th of January we
would like to get some idea of who is interested (and if you have
particular interests) already now.

Thus, if you would be interested in participating in this workshop,
please respond until the end of November to
gap-workshop@dcs.st-and.ac.uk
